Sungai Nibong is a small residential town near Georgetown, the capital city of Penang. Located 5.3 miles or 8.6 kilometers south of Georgetown, this town functions as a busy bus terminal for Penang state. Sungai Nibong got its name from two local rivers called Sungai Nibong Kecil and Sungai Nibong Besar.
