Tourism Malaysia has launched a sustainable tourism CSR program on Redang Island to promote sustainability and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program, in collaboration with Tourism Terengganu, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Berjaya Hotels and Resorts, media, influencers, and celebrity chef Dato\u2019 Ismail Ahmad, aims to foster cultural exchange and appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key activities include:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Beach Cleaning<\/strong>: Led by The Taaras Beach and Spa Resort, this initiative engages locals and tourists in preserving Redang Island\u2019s natural beauty and reducing marine debris.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Turtle Conservation Education<\/strong>: At the Chagar Hutang Turtle Sanctuary, participants learn about marine life conservation, supporting ecotourism and showcasing the island\u2019s biodiversity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Conversion of Used Cooking Oil into Soap<\/strong>: UMT\u2019s Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS) demonstrates sustainable tourism practices by converting used cooking oil into soap.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
